Brooklyn Beckham (Celebrity(s’) Son
“With the birth of the trademarked, typically unorthodox named little “Harper Seven” just a few short weeks ago, proud parents, David and Victoria Beckham have at last now, the longed for(and much tried for) daughter, that they have been awaiting for, to complete their growing family and perhaps one day celebrity dynasty. A daughter for David and Victoria, but also, equally significant perhaps, a cute little baby sister to older brothers (in ascending order) : Cruz, Romeo and eldest brother Brooklyn, he most famously being named by his parents after his place of conception. “Yeah, right thanks Mom!!!(his most likely reaction to playground taunts in years to come)”
And, whilst much of the recent press and general media fascination and focus, from the likes of Perez Hilton and the British”Holy Moley” to count for two, has thus recently focussed on the cute, endearing father and daughter picture released by the Beckhams to the press of: David and little Harper Seven; in a way, the arrival of little Harper actually makes us realise how the blueprint for the next gerneration of the little Beckhams has already been coming along. Now, when we see pictures of young Brooklyn Beckham in the printed press, alongside his mother and father, we can see that he is getting very much taller and starting to match up to his mother. It can’t be long surely, before, one day soon we’ll see him at least as tall as her and matching her stride for stride when they show up at the “Galaxy” to watch Brooklyn’s famous father “do his stuff.”
So it is incredible to think that just a few years ago, back in the mid-90′s when the eponymous Spice Girls exploded on the scene in ’95 with “Wannabe”; that had it not been for the popular groups’ weekend visit to watch Manchester United play one afternoon at Old Trafford, that the “Posh ‘n Becks” soap opera and the ensuing brand and next generation led by young Booklyn may never have begun. It is said that the younger Victoria(Adams ne’) attended the match with her bandmate Sporty Spice(a.k.a Melanie Chisholm, a reluctant attendee’, being a life-long fan of their major local Lancashire rivals Liverpool) and harbouring a months long held crush on United’s handsome young winger, suggested to “Sporty” that they attend the player’s bar afterward. Victoria, it is said approached David and as they say the rest is history.
Within a couple of years the two were wed in a lavish celebrity-littered ceremony, made most famous in the memory for the star-studded guest list and the (in)famous “Posh and Beck’s thrones, that made the front covers or celebrity pages of all the British tabloids. Shortly afterwards they embarked on their luxurious honeymoon, ableit one that had to be curtalied for pre-season training by a certain S ir Alex Ferguson! However, it was on one of their overseas trips that the happy couple spent a memorable night in a privileged hotel in a New York borough, in a union that was to lead to the pregnancy and then birth of their first-born and much loved son, Brooklyn Beckham. Of course, as said, named romantically? perhaps after the place of his genesis!
Brooklyn began his life, spending most of his time in the care of his parents, near Goff’s Oak(&Posh’s parents) in East Hertfordshire, England, at the wittily&just a little imaginatively nicknamed “Beckingham Palace”, by the nations’ media. At the time, his father David still played for ” ManU” whilst his mother was still conducting her “pop” career as a Spice Girl which involved much touring, public performances and personal appearences. This led the parents to conduct a very modern “metro” relationship with both parents taking turns looking after the infant Brooklyn Beckham. Indeed, Brooklyn, in a way, it could be said helped lead to a change in his father David’s and the families in general circumstances, when Victoria told David that he had to stay at home to look after Brooklyn in Hertfordshire rather than attend training at his football club’s Carrington facility up in the North-West. I was reported at the time as such and also that it may have led to the start of the breakdown in the relationship and the infamous “cut-eye) episode that ultimately led to David Beckham and his family”s departure to Real Madrid, Spain. And, of course to Brooklyn Beckham’s Spanish life where for a while he was educated and lived. Before again five years ago, when avid moved again to the Los Angeles Galaxy in Califonia, where the family remain predominantly settled to this day. Where young Brooklyn Beckham continues his education with the very best schooling. And where, according to his parents has now acquired a north american “twang!”
Certainly, such media appearances make us realise that Brooklyn Beckham is now no longer quite the cute little Becks’ “Mini Me” that he once was, mimicking his fathers’ offbeat cool wholesome image. Now, as he approaches his impending teenage years, he is developing his own style and manner. And increasingly now, he is showing us this, in the brief public appearances that he makes with his parents and siblings. Glimpses in public, of his heartily cheeky but fun personality, and also of his intelligent and assured self-awareness, that he so often will display by pulling funny faces or by playing “peek-a-boo”games with the ever ensuing paparrazi. In, perhaps one of the most famous anecdotes, recalled by those that were there, there was the occasion on when on one of the first flights the clan Beckham took out to LA to watch David in action for the Galaxy, Brooklyn showed us a brief but revealing glimpse of his well-adjusted but proud and fun-loving personality.
When, on overhearing two of the other passengers in 1st class talk about a recent England football match and the phenominal contribution of their country’s new(England) captainl, younger brother Romeo looks up at his big brother Brooklyn and asks him who and what the other passengers are talking about? Proud elder brother, Booklyn Beckham turns round to his brother and replies, “Daddy, they’re talking about Daddy.” And with a smile he turns to his brother and adds, “They’re talking about our Daddy, Our Daddy is David Beckham!!!”
